Eleanor Sourbutts Soprano
British Soprano, Eleanor Sourbutts is an international concert soloist and operatic singer. She is a strong supporter of accessibility in Classical music and Opera and is also enthusiastic about innovative performance concepts. She is delighted to be joining THE FAT LADY operagroep for the 2021 season.


Emerging as a sort-after oratorio and concert soloist, Eleanor has experience performing a wide range of repertoire from Baroque to contemporary. She is currently living and working in the Netherlands and continues to take lessons with Marjan Kuiper.
Past solo engagements include performances across the UK, Italy, Germany and The Netherlands. She has previously collaborated with Huygens Vocaal Ensemble, Luna Kamerkoor, Helios Ensemble (NL), L'Associazione Mousikè, Mysterium Vocis, Palazzo Zevallos (IT), University of Leeds International Concert series and Leeds Baroque Ensemble (UK). Her repertoire includes; Mozart’s Requiem, Ein Deutsches Requiem by J. Brahms, Stabat Mater by G.B Pergolesi and Handel’s Messiah.
Also an experienced choral and ensemble singer, Eleanor has performed with The Clothworker’s Consort of Leeds, Leeds Baroque Choir, In Pace for Skipton Camerata (UK), Mysterium Vocis (IT) and the ArtEZ vrouwenensemble (NL).
Eleanor graduated from University of Leeds with a Bachelor of Music where she studied with Susan Lees and the late Jane Anthony. She followed her master’s degree with Professor Anna Vandi at the Conservatorio di Musica San Pietro a Majella in Naples, Italy where she graduated with full marks cum laude for her thesis on Early Operas that premiered at the Teatro dei Fiorentini in Naples.

Eleanor first took to the operatic stage in 2011 as a chorus member for Opera Venture’s prodcution of Le Nozze di Figaro. She went on to join LUU Opera Society and perform La Fèe in Massenet’s Cendrillon in 2013 and has since played roles such as Josephine from H.M.S Pinafore (Gilbert and Sulivan) and Erste Dame in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte.
Eleanor has been coached by operatic singers such as Marcello Lippi, Amand Hekkers, Romina Casucci, Anna Vandi and also by the renowned pedagogue Margreet Honnig. She is currently coached by Artistic and Musical director of The Fat Lady operagroep, Tamir Chasson.
When she is not performing, Eleanor also enjoys giving lessons online and in person. She particularly enjoys helping young singers with their English and Italian repertoire.
